24-Hour Miami Itinerary

Miami Beach is recognized internationally for its top beaches, attractions, restaurants, hotels, and events. It is also recognized for its nightlife and iconic neon lights – both of which are a testament to the hustle and bustle of a city that continues to operate long after sunset.

If you have 24 hours in South Beach, you'll want to experience every bit of excitement you can squeeze out of your short trip and explore the area in the daylight and well into the night. Here are some ideas for what to do with a day and night on South Beach:

People Watch and Stroll the Streets

There's no better way to soak up the vibe of South Beach, see the scenic views of the beach, the skyline and the deco architechture than a stroll of South Beach. While there's a lot to do here and plenty to see, it's an easy walking neighborhood and there are bus routes to hop onto along the way. Hit Ocean Drive and Lincoln Road to see the biggest sights of the area including shopping, restaurants, bars and the picturesque historic art deco buildings and lights of the area.

Beach

It wouldn't be a trip to Miami without a quick visit to the beach. If you only have a day you'll have to plan out your schedule carefully to see everything, or throw planning to the wind and spend the day relaxing at the beach. You're on vacation after all, right? So, why not just use your 24 hours to unwind? Lay out on South Beach to get some sun, go for a swim or just take it easy on the sand.

Entertainment

A walk down any of the popular South Beach streets and you'll come across live music venues on just about every street.

Food

All along Miami Beach you'll find streetside cafes with outdoor seating advertising price specials, giant lobsters and tropical cocktails inviting you in for a bite with a view of the passerbys and surrounding architecture. For a foodie experience, Miami Beach is the place to stay. You can walk to a plethora of pricier dining experiences by celebrity chefs and if you do a bit of research in advance on the top-notch restaurants in the area, often found inside the area's hotels, you can try everything from fusions you've never heard of to new takes on Southern comfort food.

Cuban food is Miami’s favorite comfort food, and Lincoln Road has the perfect outdoor Cuban Restaurant, Havana 1957.  A huge plate of rice and black beans and a bistec empanizado (fried breaded beefsteak) will satisfy late night mega-munchies after a night out on the town. Or maybe all you need is a cup of deliciously fuerte Cuban coffee to see you through the rest of your nighttime escapades.

Miami Beach is overrun by pizza joints which are open late at night and it's a good thing because the area's jam packed with nightclubs, dancing and music that will keep you up untill the wee hours of the morning and hungry for a slice. While locals have yet to agree on their favorite, Gino’s Pizza and Brew. They sell giant portions of flavorful pizza by the slice or by the pie at a reasonable price. It is a great option for calming any late night hunger pangs since they are open until 5:30 a.m. Orders for delivery can be placed online or over the phone.
